Not content with just dominating the largest consumer market in the Americas, Apple has set its sight on market No. 2.
The Cupertino-based maker of the iPhone and the iPad is launching its iTunes store in Brazil and 15 other Latin American markets.
Brazil has one of the fastest growing middle classes in the world and it is the second largest consumer market in North and South America -- second only to the U.S.
Along with Brazil, Apple will also be opening iTunes Stores in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela.
Each store will have a variety of local music and movies, mixed in with Hollywood productions, from studios such as 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Universal Pictures, The Walt Disney Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures..
An album in the iTunes Store will cost $9.99 and an individual song will run 99 cents.
