Google has been nibbling at a native Gmail app for a couple of years, but now it seems ready to take a big bite.
A dedicated, native Gmail app is set to launch, according to MG Siegler. The app is reportedly under review with Apple.
With push notifications released last year, Google took a big step forward. Now, after years of waiting, one would expect a pretty sweet experience, with both companies trying to satisfy the tons of users with iPhones and Gmail accounts.
Of course, if Apple doesn't allow Gmail to be the defaul email client, that might yet annoy users.
If the rumors are confirmed, however, Google will have iterated a major convenience for millions. (Kind of what they say they always try to do...)
