The Dragon and the Ox(bow)

The Napa market celebrates with tea and a lion dance.

MAJESTIC MARVEL: A beautiful and energy-filled Lion Dance is a spectacle to behold. Of course, the dance very often takes place on a street, or in a park, and less often inside a market. But that's exactly what will happen on Sunday, Jan. 29 when San Francisco's Wushu dancers make for the Oxbow Public Market in Napa to welcome the Year of the Dragon for the market's own Tillerman Tea. The tea purveyor will also have dumplings and red envelopes on hand -- more celebratory ways to say hello to a fresh start -- and music from the San Francisco Guzheng Society will round out the day. Everything starts at 1 p.m. on the 29th, but arriving early is recommended. And nice, too; after all, you'll be at the Oxbow, where wandering about is a happy art form.

ALSO ON THE OXBOW CALENDAR: Weeknight happy hours aplenty -- hellooo, lovely, lovely half-priced oysters and wood-fired chicken wings -- and other respites to help winter pass in a warmer, food-nicer way. Keep tabs here, or find more info where you're on hand for the Lion Dance on Jan. 29.
