A dramatized movie about the founding of Facebook was tops as far as film critics were concerned.
“The Social Network” was chosen by the National Society of Film Critics yesterday as the best picture of 2010, The Associated Press reported. Those involved with the critically acclaimed movie also won awards: Jesse Eisenberg, who played Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, as best actor; Aaron Sorkin for his screenplay; and David Fincher as best director.
Other major winners at the awards, which took place at a New Yok restaurant. included Giovanna Mezzogiorno as best actress for “Vincere”; Geoffrey Rush as best supporting actor for “The King’s Speech”; and Olivia Williams as best supporting actress for “The Ghost Writer.”
Forty-six film critics from the New York voted on the awards, according to the AP.
The Social Network is also up for six Golden Globes next week, including for Best Motion Picture—Drama.
