Party like it's your birthday, because 50 Cent has some exciting news: the rapper and boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. have announced the launch their own film production company at the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday.
Fiddy, born Curtis Jackson, told MTV News he hit the club this weekend to celebrate, Mayweather Productions, the birth of his new collaboration with the champion boxer,
"I look forward to being a part of some really great projects that have the kind of artistic integrity I'll be proud of, even when I'm gone, because these pictures will be here even after I'm gone." said the "Candy Store" rapper at a press conference in Utah.
Acting isn't new for Fiddy; the rapper has stared in films "Righteous Kill" and "Twelve," and even runs a film firm, Cheetah Vision. But his partnership with Mayweather is a step towards what might be a more permanent industry for him.
"I'm sure in the future, I won't be able to rap forever... so we can do different things," 50 said. "This is exciting, you know, the beginning, the birth of a collaboration between be and Floyd."
The production company is brand-spanking new, so Mayweather said the first step is just shooting the breeze with his new partner.
"We're going to do what we normally do," Mayweather said. "Sit in a room and brainstorm and try to come up with new ideas, be creative and just work together and try to be positive. That's the main thing. It's about working hard, being positive, and working together."
