A failed stunt on a German TV show left the stuntman in critical condition and cancelled a Justin Bieber concert, reports Newser.
23-year-old contestant Samuel Koch was attempting to jump over a a moving car driven by his father while wearing a set of specially modified shoes on the German game show Wetten Dass ("Bet It"). However, the suspension system in the shoes failed and Koch was injured after he missed the jump.
The mishap occurred during a live taping of the show, which is broadcast to an audience of more than 10 million viewers. The TV station canceled the show and also forced the postponement of a concert with Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber, who was set to perform on the show.
Koch sustained multiple back injuries and fractures and had to undergo surgery on December 4. His condition was described as life-threatening.
Bieber took to his Twitter account to ask for support for the fallen stuntman.
"Please pray for Samuel Kock & his family as we wait and hope for his health and safety," he wrote.
He added that while he was upset that the show could not go on, he said that "some things are more important than putting on a show" and he vowed to return for another show soon.
