Susan Boyle's Second Album Tops Amazon Charts

Susan Boyle’s upcoming album hasn’t been even released yet, and it’s already a best seller.

The British singing sensation’s second record, “The Gift,” the follow-up to her 2009 smash debut, "I Dreamed a Dream," is Number One as a pre-order on Amazon’s Bestsellers chart, Billboard.com reported. As of Sept. 25, the album tops that list ahead of Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Santana, Robert Plant, Neil Young and Taylor Swift.

Craig Pape, Amazon’s director of music, didn’t say what the pre-order sales figures were, but told Billboard it was a significant Number One. "It's a relative ranking, and a lot of it depends on the release schedule and what else is in the market. But looking at this list, you can see that it's a pretty strong slate of releases, so it's a non-trivial position to take the top slot during this release period."

According to Billboard, Boyle’s first album set a record as Amazon’s Music highest CD pre-order; it eventually sold 3.8 million copies in the States. The new album will feature Boyle’s renditions of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day” and Crowded House’s “Don’t Dream It’s Over,” along with traditional holiday classics “The First Noel” and “O Holy Night.”
