Celine Dion’s baby dreams are coming true twofold: she’s having twins.
“We’re ecstatic,” Rene Angelil, Dion’s husband and manager, told People over the weekend. “Celine is just hoping for a healthy pregnancy. She was hoping for one baby and the news that we are having twins is a double blessing.”
The 42-year-old Canadian megastar had her first child, Rene-Charles, in 2001 and her desire to expand the brood has been well documented.
Following a tragic miscarriage last year, the "My Heart Will Go On" singer made six in-vitro fertilization attempts and even turned to acupuncture to boost her chances at conception, People reported.
"I feel like I've been pregnant more than a year," Dion told the French-language Le Journal de Montreal of the in-vitro fertilization process. "I never gave up. But I can tell you that it was physically and emotionally exhausting."
Angelil spoke of his wife's "guts" in the Le Journal interview, which was translated by People.
"These treatments were truly hard on my wife's body," Angelil said. "It wasn't simple at all."
