Spoiler Alert: Crews tell Stephanie Chuang, filming for ‘San Andreas’ will include a simulated tsunami washing over the Golden Gate Bridge. The movie stars Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
The Rock is in town.
Actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is in San Francisco this week, filming his new movie entitled San Andreas.
And it was a hard sell -- to the neighborhood, not producers.
Seems that merchants on Fisherman's Wharf and neighbors in Russian Hill both objected to street closures that the filmers had requested, according to SFist and the Chronicle.
Filming is supposed to happen Tuesday and Wednesday at the wharf, with more shooting at Russian Hill on Hyde Street, along with up to 400 extras.
The second bout of filming will close the Embarcadero from Taylor to Powell – just a block from Fisherman’s Wharf – from 2 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
Local
Neighbors complained, loudly, but the permits were approved.
So welcome The Rock. We hope you enjoy your stay.
