Planes arrive by the dozens every hour at SFO, but in the coming months there will be one plane a day that is sure to catch lots of attention on both take off and landing.
In May, the daily Lufthansa flight from San Francisco to Frankfurt will be upgraded from a 747 to a A380 Airbus. The A380 is a double decker plane that dwarfs most airplanes. It holds 526 passengers, plus crew. If you are counting, Lufthansa says there are 98 first class seats and 420 back in coach.
SFO is only the fifth Airbus destination city in the world.
The plane is scheduled to land around noon daily. Take off will be 2:30 p.m.
Lufthansa says ticket prices won't change.
