The White House released new details about President Barack Obama's visit to San Francisco later this week.
What we learned is that we aren't going to learn very much about the Thursday evening meeting. Not only is the public not invited, it will also be closed to the press.
The White House did not list the invitees and only said that Mr. Obama will meet with a number of business leaders in fields of technology and innovation. Prop Zero's Larry Gerston said the reason for the omission could be as simple as: that the White House doesn't have a firm RSVP list.
The last time the president was here he met with Apple's Steve Jobs. He also held two fundraisers at the homes of Google exec Marrisa Mayer and eBay V.P. Steve Westly.
The White House would only say the group "will discuss our shared goal of promoting American innovation, and discuss his commitment to new investments in research and development, education and clean energy." White House Deputy Communications Director Jen Psaki said the president has been reaching out to CEOs over the past months and he is continuing that during his Bay Area visit.
We also have a timeline. Air Force One will land at SFO around 6 p.m. Thursday and it will take off by 9 a.m. Friday.
From here, the president will fly up the pacific coast for another high tech meeting. On Friday Mr. Obama will meet with the CEO of Bay Area-based Intel Corporation, he will just will be doing on their campus up in Hillsboro, Oregon.
