Rumors are circulating that San Francisco headquartered public affairs channel Current TV may be catching its biggest fish yet, netting Mr. "Countdown" himself, Keith Olbermann, says Mediaite.com.
The television and online network, founded in part by Al Gore, in 2005, reaches millions via cable, satellite and online distribution, and adding Olbermann to the line-up would certainly boost its numbers.
Since Olbermann's abrupt departure from MSNBC, there has been speculation his next move would be internet-based.
The NY Times, reports that Olbermann will make an announcement tomorrow regarding his future in broadcasting, stating,
Keith Olbermann, the former top-rated host of “Countdown” on the news channel MSNBC, will announce his next television home on Tuesday, and people familiar with his plans pointed Monday to a possible deal with the public affairs channel Current TV.
The Times goes on to say neither Olbermann, his representatives or Current TV execs could comment on the announcement, but one source said Olbermann would have an equity stake in Current TV.
Current TV's popular shows include "Vanguard," "infoMania," and the award winning "This American Life" hosted by Ira Glass.
