A Caltrain struck and killed a man on the train tracks in Menlo Park Friday morning, an agency spokeswoman said.
Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn said a northbound train fatally struck an adult male on the tracks on Ravenswood Avenue around 9:30 a.m.
The man was not immediately identified.
All trains in the area were stopped for a time, Dunn said. Nearly 600 passengers were on board trains that were impacted by the stoppage.
This was the fourth fatality on Caltrain tracks so far this year. Last year there were 16 fatalities, according to Caltrain.
Caltrain said in its press release about the death:
In 1996, in an effort to reduce fatalities on the railroad, Caltrain installed no trespassing signs on its right of way. In 2001, signs with a crisis hotline number were added. The signs are posted every 500 feet, and at stations and crossings, on the entire 55-mile length of the railroad.

Although it was not immediately determined to be the case on Friday, most deaths on the tracks turn out to be suicide.
All trains were back on line and on time by noon.
