Although a loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night spoiled Kevin Durant's official debut as a Golden State Warrior, it didn't dampen the spirit of his biggest fan.
Durant's mother, Wanda Durant, was on hand for the Warriors season opener at Oracle Arena and was as excited as ever watching her son play.
"I love basketball, and I love watching my baby play," Durant said, sitting courtside. Her son scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the loss.
The single mother of two sees her son's decision to come to the Warriors as a new adventure, and she said she's looking forward to a new chapter in his and her life.
"Sometimes change is good; we’re excited for the new change," she said. "I’m a little nervous because it’s coming to a new family, to a family that’s been together for some time."
When it comes to family, Wanda Durant knows how to keep a unit together during good times and bad. She raised KD and his brother by herself, and Kevin let everyone know how much he appreciated that during his acceptance speech as the league's MVP in 2014.
"As a mom, you really don’t do it for the praise," Wanda said. "You do what you have to do to help your children to make it, do what you have to do to survive."

Mama Durant certainly is surviving. She’s an inspirational speaker who will be spending time courtside cheering on the Warriors.
"It may sound in the speech like I did everything right; I did not," she said. "One thing I stuck with: Me and my children, we were in it together, and that’s what’s important."
