The Internet Defense League has cast its logo up into the skies tonight, signaling the official launch.
The Internet Defense League is a coalition of companies and individuals who promote internet freedom across the world, and fight proposed censorship laws such as SOPA and PIPA.
The launch coincides with the release of the latest Batman film. The Bat Signal is used to call Batman, when trouble strikes Gotham City, and the League hopes the Cat Signal will call attention to citizens to fight online censorship.
The "Cat Signal" can be seen, not only in San Francisco, but New York, Washington D.C. London and Ulaar Bataar (Mongolia).
Several of the companies supporting the Internet Defense League include Mozilla, WordPress, reddit, Fark, imgur and more. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) also supports the project.
More about the launch and how to donate to the cause can be found on the Internet Defense League website.
