A man was arrested for pushing and threatening to kill a lesbian couple in a suspected hate crime during the San Francisco LGBT Pride Parade on Sunday, police said Tuesday.
The two women, 21-year-old Thousand Oaks residents, were walking west near the corner of Fifth and Market streets in the middle of the city's annual Pride parade at about 11 a.m. on Sunday when one of them was pushed from behind.
The woman stumbled into her girlfriend. They turned around and the assailant was looking at them with clenched fists. He threatened to kill them because of their sexual orientation, according to police.
A bystander helped separate the man from the woman he pushed. He turned around and walked away, police said.
The women found two officers on patrol and described the man to them. Another officer recognized him based on the women's description a few minutes later near the corner of Market and Mason streets.
The officers detained him and called the women over, who confirmed he was the man who accosted them. Police arrested him and identified him as 50-year-old Emmanuel Morancy. He was booked into jail on suspicion of criminal threats, battery and a hate crime enhancement.
Morancy was one of three people arrested on suspicion of felonies during the Pride events on Sunday. The two others were arrested for outstanding warrants. A total of 19 people were arrested during Sunday's festivities, the rest for misdemeanor assaults, warrants and public intoxication.

Police are still looking for another suspect in a hate crime that happened earlier Sunday morning in the city's Mission District.
A 25-year-old San Francisco resident was walking on 22nd Street near York Street when a gray four-door sedan drove by and the right front passenger yelled an anti-gay slur at him, according to police.
He then heard a loud "bang" and felt a sharp pain in his right hand. He looked down and realized he had been shot with a pellet gun, according to police.
