Two fans wearing San Francisco 49ers gear suspected of assaulting two men in a Levi's Stadium restroom were arrested before kickoff of Sunday's game.
Santa Clara Police Lt. Kurt Clarke identified the suspects Monday as relatives Dario Rebollero, 34, and Amador Rebollero, 27, of King City. The two were booked on felony assault charges. Clarke would not say how the two are related or what started the fight.
CORRECTION: Santa Clara police originally identified the suspects as being from King City, California. Prosecutors later announced the two men are from Traver in Tulare County.
The assaults occurred just before the 49ers vs, Kansas City Chiefs game started at 1:25 p.m. in a bathroom in the 300 level on the north side of the stadium. The two victims were transported to a hospital for treatment. Clarke said one victim was treated and released, but the other victim was listed in serious condition on Monday.
A video posted on YouTube, which was confirmed by police as showing the fight in question, shows a stocky man with a goatee wearing a No. 21 Frank Gore shirt punching a thinner man in a Colin Kaepernick No. 7 shirt. The thinner man falls flat on the floor. The video camera stays with this man for a while, showing him motionless.
Then, a group of people tackles a second man wearing a No. 53 shirt as he exits a stall and then they begin punching him, too.
Several onlookers watched the fight in the crowded bathroom. Some in the crowd can be heard shouting "Go, go!"
Though police have not revealed a possible motive, Alex Cartagena, who posted the video, wrote on his YouTube account that the fight was "all due to impatience for an open stall."
Cartagena said he was not a witness to the fight. His brother-in-law, Justin Sweeney, shot the footage. Sweeney declined a request for an interview.
The Rebolleros fled the bathroom, but were arrested within minutes, police said.
