One person is dead following a fiery crash involving a bus carrying a choir from Alabama and four other vehicles on northbound Highway 101 in South San Francisco early Saturday morning.
The award-winning Aeolians choir from Oakwood University are still set to perform a free concert at Third Baptist Church in San Francisco on Sunday after several members were slightly injured in the bus crash that look place just south of Sierra Point, according to its spokesperson and California Highway Patrol.
Diaz said the person who died in the crash is an adult male. Three other patients were taken to an area hospital but their condition is currently unknown.
There were 19 people on the Peninsula Tour bus, including the driver, according to CHP Officer Bert Diaz. The bus was heading into the city after a late Friday night flight from Alabama when the accident involving four other vehicles occurred and the bus caught fire. A spokesperson for Peninsula Tour declined to comment on the accident.
The accident started as a three-vehicle collision when the bus approached and — unable to stop in time — crashed into the other vehicles, according to Diaz. A driver of a fourth vehicle, a Lincoln Navigator, later crashed into the bus and died.
CHP officers received a call about the incident around 12:31 a.m., and when officers arrived they saw the tour bus was on fire, Diaz said. All lanes were shut at about 1 a.m. as fire crews put out the fire with the help of a water shuttle because there were no fire hydrants nearby.
At least 19 people were evaluated at the scene but refused treatment. Fire officials believe most of the victims were part of the tour bus.
All the choir members' clothes were burned in the bus fire, according to event organizer Sam Singer, and residents who heard about the crash stepped in to help. Dr. Brian Richardson and Denise Richardson officered to buy the men suits for their upcoming performances.
The San Francisco Police Officer Association has also donated money to the choir to help replace some of their lost item as well.

The Aeolians of Oakwood University choir will perform at the church on Sunday at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., Singer said.
