Ted Cruz, the Republican Senator from Texas who announced his 2016 candidacy for President Monday, gave a visual shout out to San Francisco in the first video released from his campaign.
Images of iconic American landmarks dot the video. Moments after the Golden Gate Bridge is shown, Cruz says, "It's going to take a new generation of courageous conservatives to help make America great again and I'm ready to stand with you to lead the fight."
28.4 percent of California's 17.7 million voters were registered Republican in 2014, according to the Public Policy Institute of California.
"It may be that at this early stage in the game, the Cruz camp had to grab whatever third-rate video editor they could find to throw something together with stock video reels, and the direction was just 'images of different coast-to-coast locales, and American flags,'" reasoned SFist.
