A red SUV likely traveling at a "high rate of speed" plowed into a parked car, a utility pole and a home where people were inside early Thursday morning in Oakland.
Police Lt. Dave Elzey said the driver of the SUV was injured and taken to the hospital, but no one inside the home at 61 7th Street was hurt. "He sideswiped into the parked vehicle, utility pole and crashed into the house," he said. "A high rate of speed is likely."
The accident was reported shortly after 4 a.m.
The driver's name was not released, and Elzey did not know if the family would be able to immediately be able to return to their damaged home.
