As many as 300 students at James Logan High School in Union City marched out of school on Tuesday afternoon, joining in with protests across the country in response to police violence in Missouri and New York City, according to reports.
Bay Area News Group reports students exited class at about 2 p.m. to march to the local police station where they spoke out about their fears of being "the next Eric Garner."
Garner was the unarmed black man who died after being put in a chokehold by police. The incident was caught on video, with the police officers involved not being indicted.
In contrast to other demonstrations across the Bay Area that have turned violent, students peacefully assembled near police headquarters for an hour before returning back to school.
