Five men were arrested in an undercover prostitution sting in Walnut Creek, say police.
Officers said they arrested the men at a Motel 6 on North Main Street just before midnight. The operation came in response to reports of continuing problems with prostitution and other crimes at local motels.
Police arrested a 22-year-old man from Hayward, a 59-year-old man from Paradise, a 31-year old man from Oakland, a 41-year-old man from Patterson, and a 36-year-old man from Concord in connection with the incident.
Walnut Creek Police Sergeant Steve Gorski Police said that the men were arrested in separate incidents and did not know each other. He also said that the undercover officers had been contacted via the Internet and phone by suspects in the lead-up to the sting.
The bust is the second such scandal to take place in the Bay Area in two weeks. Last week, San Jose police arrested five men suspected of being involved in an online prostitution ring and 16 others on prostitution-related charges.
