Did your parents ever throw out your old Nintendo? Well, if they did, they might be sorry after they hear that one sold for more than $13,000 on eBay.
The eBay posting by North Carolina user lace_thongs35 boasts of an original Nintendo gaming console, one controller and five original Nintendo games. Less than an hour after the bidding began on Wednesday, the price of the popular 80's gaming console was $6,000. By the time the auction closed, the Nintendo package sold for $13,105.
Nintendo's sell everyday on eBay. And as popular as Super Mario Bros. 3 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 were, bidders weren't exactly interested in either of these items. What caught their eye was a rare copy of Family Fitness Stadium Events - which ranks number six out of 20 on the "Holy Grails of Console Gaming," according to a Wikipedia posting. Allegedly only about 2,000 games were produced and sold, and a recall of the game may have reduced that number to 200. There may be only about 10 complete copies of the game that exist.
But the prize isn't necessarily the game itself, but the original cardboard box - valued at $10,000.
