Laura Garcia co-anchors weekday mornings, "Today in the Bay" and NBC Bay Area's midday show alongside Marcus Washington.
This multiple Emmy award-winning journalist began her career in broadcasting in San Francisco before moving on to report and anchor in Fresno. Prior to joining NBC Bay Area, Laura was an investigative reporter and anchor in Phoenix, Arizona.
While there, Laura was honored with The Associated Press Reporter of the Year Award along with multiple Emmy and AP awards for writing and reporting. One of her fondest achievements was accepting an Emmy award in San Francisco for best daytime broadcast. Laura was also recognized with a Best Daytime Newscast Award in the Bay Area by the Bay Area Women in Radio and Television.
Laura is an avid participant in various organizations. She is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and serves on the Board of Trustees of her alma mater, Saint Mary's College of California in Moraga, where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and Government. Laura also serves on the Board of Directors for the American Cancer Society as well as the Board of the Catholic Professional Business Club.
When she's not on the anchor desk, depending on the season, Laura enjoys golfing, skiing, snowshoeing, reading, cooking and spending time with family and friends. She is the proud mother of triplets Katherine, Claire and Jack.
