NBC Bay Area was honored to have Chef Tom Muromoto, Ka'anapali Beach Hotel Executive Chef, on Asian Pacific America with Robert Handa.
Chef Tom gave a demonstration of a Hawaiian staple, poke. Poke is a popular Hawaiian appetizer and can be served as a main dish with rice, called a poke bowl. Chef Tom emphasized using fresh and local ingredients from the island, such as Maui onion, which is sweeter than a typical yellow or white onion we find in the grocery store. He presented two different styles of poke, traditional and spicy. It is so easy that you can make this dish at home!
