On Saturday, August 19, the annual Clear the Shelters event will include the participation of more than 50 animal shelters across the Bay Area offering low cost or waived pet adoption fees to help families find and adopt a new pet!
"Last year’s participation of our local shelters was tremendous with nearly 4,000 pet adoptions. We look forward to continuing success in this year’s campaign", said Rich Cerussi, President and General Manager of NBC Bay Area and Telemundo 48. "With so many abandoned animals sitting in shelters, we’re hoping families come and rescue them."
In the Bay Area, nearly 5,000 pets have found new homes during the events. Since 2015, Clear the Shelters has resulted in more than 70,000 pet adoptions nationwide.
NBC Bay Area's Laura Garcia-Cannon and Marcus Washington will be at Berkeley Humane's adopt-a-thon and street fair on Saturday, August 19th. There will be live music and entertainment, local food trucks, breweries, wineries and activities for all ages. Friendly canines and pets are more than welcome to attend and kept harnessed or leashed, please! More than 200 animals will be available for adoption, including many other vendors with great products for your pet.
