The Humane Society is spreading the word of Spay and Neuter Awareness Month. This year marks the 20th anniversary of World Spay Day, February 25, and is dedicated to spaying and neutering animals to saves lives that may others be put down in shelters or harmed on the streets.
Along with helping to spay and neuter the animals, these organizations are urging people to adopt shelter pets that are in danger of being put down due to over population. The percentage of shelter pet adoptions have risen 2% since 2009, but 2.7 million pets are still losing their lives each year.
There are many different ways to help these animals and shelters. To learn more, click here. To visit the Humane Society's site, click here.
