A 9-year-old girl was killed and four women were injured in a car crash on Interstate 680 in Concord Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At 5:14 a.m., CHP was made aware of the crash near the I-680/Highway 242 split. It said an SUV with six occupants was traveling northbound when it went off the road between the two freeways, overturning several times through the dirt median.
First responders arrived to find the SUV on its roof. The 9-year-old died at the site of the crash. Four women were taken to the hospital with injuries described as “major.”
CHP said it was searching for the driver, described as a 30-year-old man, who had run off on foot.
