Extras are wanted for "94110," a television pilot about San Francisco's Mission District that starts filming this summer.
Flyers calling for actors for a television pilot called "94110" were posted in the Mission in April, but it was widely speculated to be a prank.
But Mission Local counted almost 100 people who turned up to SFAQ [Project] Space over the weekend to audition for various roles in what the casting call described as "the story of six leading technology executives living, learning, and loving together in San Francisco’s Mission District, 94110."
Despite appearances that this is a real production, the screen test page of "94110" contains sample character descriptions and dialogues that are rife with parody.
The "Lead C" character is described as an "Engineer, 'kinda.' Socially awkward, but well regarded. Likes punk rock, addicted to vaping."
"Yeah, everyone is different. I'm not even talking about backgrounds or your place in society. That's why I love this neighborhood — all the changing faces and good energy. These new waves of, uh, new people, uh, is a huge thing. The area can always regenerate. There is a fresh rate of money coming in, fresh ways of support, fresh food— isn't that a great thing?" asks the "Supporting A" role, a venture capitalist.
There are also non-speaking background roles available: SFAQ invites prospective extras to email 94110official@gmail.com with the subject line "94110 Extra" to be notified of the shooting date and have a chance to participate.
