Former San Jose Track Coach Facing 15 Felony Charges for Alleged Sex Crimes With a Minor

A former track and field coach in Santa Clara County was arrested Thursday for allegedly engaging in sexual relationships with three teenage girls and sexually assaulting a girl of about 12 between 1999 and 2011, San Jose police reported Friday.

Chioke Robinson, 45, of San Jose, was the subject of multiple reports alleging sexual misconduct beginning in January of this year, according to police. He is currently an assistant track coach at San Francisco State University and a self-employed personal trainer in San Jose.

Police said two victims said Robinson had sexual relationships with them when they were 17 years old, another said he had a sexual relationship with her when she was 15 and the fourth victim reported she was sexually assaulted when she was about 12.

Police said at the time of the alleged offenses Robinson was a high school track coach at Piedmont Hills High School in San Jose, Los Gatos High School and a club team coach in San Jose.

Robinson was arrested in San Francisco without incident on Thursday and booked into Santa Clara County Jail.

He is facing seven counts of oral copulation with a minor under 18, three counts of sexual penetration with a minor, one count of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14, another three for a minor 14 or 15 years old and another for a minor under 16 years old. All these offenses are felonies.

According to Robinson's biography on the San Francisco State Athletics website, he has coached hundreds of athletes in state and national championships, including two Olympians.
