Bay Area Schools Participating in Walk and Bike to School Day

At least two South Bay schools will celebrate National Walk and Bike to School Day on Wednesday morning.

In Santa Clara, students, parents, police, city and school officials will take a "walking school bus" to Scott Lane Elementary School located at 1925 Scott Boulevard.

The bus will start at 8:15 a.m. and arrive at the school at 8:30 a.m., where a news conference with Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor and Police Chief Mike Sellers will follow. The location of where the walking school bus will start wasn't released.

In San Jose, Reed Elementary School students will be riding and walking to school with help from Cupertino-based Tempo Bicycles starting at Paul Moore Park at 8 a.m., and finishing at the school, located at 1524 Jacob Avenue, around 9 a.m. Students will then go in for a morning assembly.
