Rain Returns to Bay Area, Expected to Spread Across Region

Rain returned to the Bay Area on Wednesday night, soaking the North Bay first as a cold front pushed the system southward across the region.

Scattered rain was expected to continue into Thursday morning, likely keeping the roads wet for the early commute, NBC Bay Area's Chief Meteorologist Jeff Ranieri said.

Gusty winds also are expected along the front, especially at higher elevations, the National Weather Service said.

Temperatures were expected to stay cool, with 60s across the region.

Lingering showers are possible Thursday into early Friday, mainly over the North Bay, and drying is likely Friday afternoon through the weekend, forecasters said.

Another round of rain is expected to arrive Sunday night.
