BART Considering Restricting Role of Police

BART could soon limit the role and responsibilities of its own police force. The agency announced Thursday it will put together a proposal to stop relying on police for issues relating to homelessness, drug abuse, and mental illness. The idea was proposed today and approved by seven of BART’s nine board of directors as part of the agency’s new $2.4 billion budget.
