Powell Street BART Station Reopens After Incident, Major Systemwide Delays

NBC Bay Area

BART officials said it appears a train hit and killed a person on the tracks Monday afternoon at the Powell Street station in San Francisco.

The Powell Street station reopened around 5:30 p.m. and BART crews were doing a track inspection prior to restoring service.

BART during the station closure still ran transbay service from Montgomery and Embarcadero stations. Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District buses provided mutual aid and also took passengers across the bay.

People were able to catch an AC Transit bus at the Salesforce Transit Center at 425 Mission St. in San Francisco.
