A dozen bikes set to be donated to a woman's shelter were stolen from an Oakland charter school.

Staff at the East Bay Innovation Academy on Monday discovered locks on school gates and a shipping container were cut. Inside the container were the bikes and 10 tool boxes, which were all stolen.

The school did not catch the theft on camera.

Cailin Walker of the East Bay Innovation Academy said word of the theft has classmates upset.

"A little depressed because they wanted to donate and help people," Walker said.

Walker added the incident will turn into a lesson about good will.

"I hope we get new ones because it's ridiculous that they stole it," Walker said.
