Shoppers search for holiday deals on what could be record-setting Black Friday

NBC Universal, Inc.

From Black Friday through Cyber Monday, this could be another record-setting shopping weekend.

The National Retail Federation forecasts more than 183.4 million people plan to shop this weekend, with 65% of Black Friday shoppers seeking their deals in-store. After one-day sales in the United States hit $9.5 billion in 2023, retail experts expect record sales to top $12 billion on Friday for a new record.

β€œI'll probably be going to the actual store for Macy's, maybe walk around the mall, Santana Row as well,” Matthew Levine of San Joe said. β€œI can’t miss out on the discounts.”

At the San Francisco Premium Outlets in Livermore, many shoppers were seen trying to take advantage of Black Friday sales.

Experts are reminding everyone during the holiday shopping season to be aware of consumer fraud.
