In a legal victory for City College of San Francisco, a judge has ruled the college's accreditation can't be revoked -- at least for now.
The judge ruled Thursday a trial must first determine whether the Accreditation Commission for Community and Junior Colleges acted lawfully in its evaluation of the college.
The ruling was made in response to a motion filed by San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera.
"I'm grateful to the court for acknowledging what accreditors have so far refused to: that the educational aspirations of tens of thousands of City College students matter," Herrera said in a release.
The judge said the consequences of the college closing would be catastrophic.
No word yet on a trial date.
