A 65-year-old inmate at the Martinez Detention Facility was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead Wednesday, according to the Contra Consta Sheriff's Office.
Investigators have not released the man's identity but they said Thursday that he was found during a room check around 11:09 p.m. Wednesday.
Life-saving measures were performed and he was transported to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased, according to the sheriff's office.
The investigation into this death is ongoing and no other information was immediately available.
