Contra Costa Sheriff's Office Search for Alleged Sexual Assault Suspect

The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an alleged rape attempt that occurred near a BART station Thursday afternoon.

A woman was reportedly approached by a man at the Pittsburg/Bay Point station and when they got off the train, he exposed himself and asked her to perform a sexual act on him, officials said.

The victim said that he then reportedly physically abused her near Mims Avenue and Canal Road and tried to remove her clothing but she fought him off and was able to get away.

The suspect is described as being in his 20’s, approximately 5 feet 8 inches, medium build, with some facial hair and was last seen wearing black sneakers, jeans a and white or grey hooded jacket with a furry hood. He was also seen carrying a red messenger bag.
