The Dalai Lama wants you to learn more about compassion and altruism.
That's why he donated $150,000 to Stanford's new center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education at Stanford's School of Medicine.
The Dalai Lama visited Stanford in 2005 during an experiment that examined spiritual and scientific explorations of human experiences of craving, suffering and choice, according to the university.
The center hopes to examine the neurological basis for those types of thoughts and feelings through research.
Researchers hope find ways to teach parents, children, clergy and hospital workers to become more compassionate; to reduce violence and recidivism among prison inmates; and to decrease depression and anxiety in the workplace.
