Lanes have since been reopened after a "a deadly crash" happened Sunday on Highway 1.
Following the crash lanes in both directions south of Dimeo Lane in Santa Cruz were closed.
Only one vehicle was involved in the accident. Officials said the driver's car rolled before they were ejected.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said it is too soon to know the reason for the accident.
