A shooting that closed Mission Boulevard between Cherry Way and Grove Way in Hayward Saturday morning is under investigation as a double homicide, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office said.
Police got a call around 1:38 a.m. reporting a person down in a shooting in front of the Hookah Lounge at 21272 Mission Boulevard, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies responded around 1:43 a.m. and found an unresponsive person and shell casings on the ground, the sheriff's office said. The person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff's office.
Two hospitals in the area told the sheriff's office that three people with gunshot wounds had shown up at the hospitals "after they were reportedly shot at the Hookah Lounge," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
One of the alleged victims died and the other two are receiving treatment, the sheriff's office said.
The shooting appears to be a targeted shootout between individuals involved in some sort of dispute, the sheriff's office said in the statement.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff's office's confidential tip line at (510) 667-3622.
