A Berkeley couple is boldly going where no couple has gone before: to the Star Trek Enterprise for a nuptial renewal.
Kyle sessions and Nancy Kerr are the grand prize winners of the Tech Museum's "Ultimate Star Trek Wedding" and will renew their vows on the bridge of the famed spacecraft.
The couple got the most votes on the musuem's Facebook page after submitting a story about how their love of Star Trek bonded them in college.
Here's a snippet of their winning story:
Well, we met when we both went to college. It was our first year at that school, and neither one of us knew anybody. We ended up living across the hall from each other in the dorms, and quickly found out we had a lot in common, including a love of Star Trek and all other things sci-fi!
The Trekkie couple said their first "I dos" in 2004 and have wanted to plan a renewal ceremony for some time. The prize package includes a private museum room for a reception, two nights at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose and a two-tiered Star Trek-themed cake from Bijan Bakery and Cafe.
They're still finalizing dates but they already have their outfits ready -- they plan to wear Star Trek costumes for the celestial ceremony.
