For the fourth year in a row, the Dungeness crab season has been delayed.

The season was supposed to start on Nov. 15 but on Friday, the Department of Fish and Wildlife postponed the season to decrease the chances of migrating whales getting ensnarled by fishing lines.

Another assessment will take place around Nov. 23, which could lead to an opening date of Dec. 1.
