A preliminary 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck near Gilroy Tuesday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake hit at 10:38 a.m. and was centered 4.5 miles east-northeast of Watsonville, 8 miles southwest of Gilroy and 10.8 miles north of Prunedale, the USGS said.
No other information was immediately available.
