A preliminary 2.7 magnitude earthquake struck Tuesday morning in the South Bay near Morgan Hill , according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake hit at 8:24 a.m. and was centered about 7 miles east of Morgan Hill in the hills above Anderson Reservoir, the USGS said.
