M2.6 earthquake strikes in the South Bay, USGS says

A preliminary 2.6 magnitude earthquake struck near San Jose early Wednesday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake hit at 4:06 a.m. and was centered about 10 miles east of San Jose, the USGS said.

No other information was immediately available.
