Preliminary 2.9 magnitude earthquake strikes East Bay

A preliminary 2.9 magnitude earthquake struck near Pleasant Hill on Sunday, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake, which hit at 9:19 p.m., was centered 1.7 miles west-northwest on Pleasant Hill and 2.3 miles north-northeast of Concord, the USGS said.
