Fruitvale featured in East Bay author's debut novel

Oakland’s Fruitvale neighborhood stars in a new young adult novel called ‘Shut Up, This is Serious.’ Though the novel is fiction, the author grew up in the neighborhood and follows some of what she saw there. NBC Bay Area’s Jessica Aguirre spoke with Carolina Ixta, author of ‘Shut Up, This is Serious,’ to learn more about the novel and its roots.
