Officials in Contra Costa County lifted a health advisory Monday night in the Pittsburg/Antioch area near the Corteva facility after a small amount of chlorine was found under a rail car earlier.
According to the county, readings taken in the area by a hazmat team did not indicate there would be any offsite health impacts due to the leak.
Fire officials confirmed Monday afternoon that the chlorine was found under a rail car in an industrial area Pittsburg, prompting hazmat crews to inspect the car.
The incident was first reported about 10:50 a.m. near the Corteva Agriscience plant at 901 Loveridge Road, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
Moisture was seen under the rail car, accompanied by a slight odor of chlorine, fire officials said.
At about 2:45 p.m., hazmat crews were working to open a hatch on the car, a Confire spokesman said.
Contra Costa County health officials issued a public health advisory for parts of Pittsburg and Antioch, advising residents to take precautions. The advisory has now been lifted.
